RAAM development currency now backed by gold

His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi proclaimed that the economic programs of his Global Country of World Peace will remove poverty and create a new world of peace and affluence. And His Excellency Dr. Benjamin Feldman, Minister of Finance and Planning of the Global Country of World Peace, announced that the RAAM development currency is now backed by gold and available to finance start-up costs for development projects in developing nations and to assist creative young entrepreneurs in promoting their life-supporting businesses worldwide.

The RAAM is the global development currency of the Global Country of World Peace. It is being offered to governments, chambers of commerce, farmers' associations, and other development agencies as a 'catalytic currency,' which will circulate for a limited time to finance agicultural and other startups to help harness the full agricultural, economic and human resources of every nation. The RAAM is already in use in the United States, in Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa, where it is circulating side by side with the dollar, and in hundreds of businesses and shops in Holland, as a limited demonstration of the principle of a second currency, where it can be exchanged at the bank for 10 Euros.

Maharishi's proclamation and the news from Dr. Feldman came during Maharishi's global news conference, which was broadcast live via satellite and Internet webcast on March 24 from the Capital of the Global Country of World Peace in Meru, Holland. Maharishi's next news conferences will be held on March 31 and April 1.

There can be no peace where there is poverty

Dr. Feldman said the RAAM is key to Maharishi's program to create a balanced world economy, remove poverty, and promote permanent world peace. 'There can be no peace where there is poverty,' Dr. Feldman said. 'Today's financial systems have been swallowed up by capitalism and have left the world's poor with no opportunity for development. Loans and aid rob sovereign nations of their dignity and freedom.

'The economic programs of the Global Country of World Peace will engage the nourishing value of total Natural Law--which promotes the evolution of everyone and everything in the universe--to promote affluence in the daily life of the people,' Dr. Feldman said.

Dr. Feldman said that the RAAM can be used to alleviate poverty in 40 of the poorest nations, where 1.5 billion people survive on $1 a day or less. 'There are one billion hectares of unused land with agricultural potential in these 40 countries. If only half of the land were to be developed, it would raise the standard of living in these countries to $1000 to $2000 per year,' Dr. Feldman said. 'The RAAM can be used to finance the start-up costs to develop those 500 million hectares.'

The way to fulfillment is to develop a fully awake consciousness

In response to a press question, Maharishi made it clear that just as there can be no peace where there is poverty, money alone does not guarantee peace either. 'The pursuit of money to gain peace and fulfillment is wrong,' Maharishi said. 'Hard work to make money will never bring peace-it will only create stress and strain. The way to fulfillment is to develop a fully awake state of consciousness-and that is easily achieved through Transcendental Meditation. If consciousness is fully awake, then every aspect of life will be lived in fulfillment and abundance.'

Maharishi said that Transcendental Meditation opens the awareness to the transcendental field of consciousness within the Self of everyone. 'In a quiet, fully awake mind, all desires will be spontaneously supported by total Natural Law. And when all desires are fulfilled, the individual will enjoy inner peace and fulfillment,' Maharishi said.

Establishing Peace Palaces in 108 countries to promote life according to Natural Law

Maharishi also announced that his Global Country of World Peace is now establishing Peace Palaces in the largest cities in 108 countries. Each Peace Palace will be home to a group of 100 to 200 peace-creating experts who will enliven total Natural Law and promote coherent world consciousness through their collective practice of Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying. Each Peace Palace will be constructed according to Vedic architecture in harmony with Natural Law to connect individual life with cosmic life. 'We are offering to every individual and every government the holistic knowledge of Natural Law so that everyone enjoys peace, prosperity, and happiness. This is the birthright of every individual born on earth,' Maharishi said.

Maharishi concluded with a strong message for the world press. 'Every day the press reports on the massacre of the human race. Now, you have an opportunity to bring to your countries the good news of the Global Country of World Peace and our programs to create coherent world consciousness and establish total Natural Law-the light of God-in the daily life of all the people. This beautiful knowledge is an open door to enlightenment for every individual and to grand success for every government,' Maharishi said. 'But time is of the essence. Bring this knowledge to your countries today because who knows what will happen tomorrow.'
