Students in the Computer Professionals Program found jobs at a record pace in September and October, and over 40 students are now employed by Microsoft.

The number of companies that have hired Computer Professionals students since the inception of the program has now grown to 521, including more than 80 new companies in the past six months alone. The average starting salary for the students is $52,000 per year.

'Prospective students sometimes wonder if they'll be able to find practical training jobs during their master's program at Maharishi University of Management,' said Don Chell, director of placement. 'When they begin their job search, they find a dynamic job market with a lot of demand for their skills. This is a good time to be an IT professional in the U.S.'

Students in the program earn an M.S. in computer science. They spend six to eight months on campus taking courses and are then placed in practical training positions in companies around the U.S. and finish their degrees via distance education over the next two years. Income from their job pays for most of the cost of their education.

In part because of the low up-front cost and the opportunity to work at major U.S. companies, the Computer Professionals Program has been popular among international students. There are currently about 325 students enrolled in the program, including those on campus and those completing their degree via distance education.

'Our students are well prepared for the job market because of the cutting-edge content and practical nature of our courses,' said John Revolinski, director of recruiting. 'In addition, the job search workshop that we offer helps them increase their self-confidence and thus their ability to get a job. It prepares them for interviews and improves their understanding of U.S. employers.'

The program admits students with a strong academic background and a degree in computer science. In addition, they must have had at least two years of professional experience.
