On 15 April 2007 The Sacramento Bee reported:
Filmmaker David Lynch has been practising the Transcendental Meditation Technique for over 30 years. He says that TM has increased his happiness, creativity, and enjoyment of his career and his life.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of business.
David Lynch was asked in an interview with The Sacramento Bee how Transcendental Meditation has impacted his career as a filmmaker.
He is quoted as saying: 'It helps so much—every business has pressure and anxiety and tension. When bliss starts growing from within, you get a feeling of really enjoying what you do. And you don't lose your edge as an artist—you gain more of an edge, an ability to focus and intuit things more easily.'
David Lynch stated that with the practise of TM, negative emotions like fear, anger, and depression begin to disappear, and this helps increase creativity. He is quoted as saying that 'Negativity cramps the flow of creativity and ideas. It's just common sense to blow that negativity away by diving within' through Transcendental Meditation.
Mr Lynch also said that as inner bliss grows, it's easier to handle life's ups and downs.
'The events of your life may stay the same, but how you go through them will be easier and better and more joyful,' David Lynch is quoted as saying. 'It's like a flak jacket.'
