Bricks, mortar and serenity: New Rockville building has a peaceful, meditative air

On 25 December 2008 The Washington Post reported:
2000 Tower Oaks Blvd in Rockville, Maryland, USA is built on the principles of Vedic architecture. Developer Jeffrey Abramson, a longtime advocate of environmentally friendly designs and a practitioner of Transcendental Meditation, uses nature's design principles in all his buildings: open space, sunlight, and natural building materials.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of business.
The Rockville office building 'was sited with an east-west orientation, which is encouraged in Vedic architecture', the Washington Post reported. 'Sunlight flows through the building, end to end, side to side. Paintings and plants are arrayed throughout. Everyone, no matter where they sit or what job they hold, can see the world outside,' the article stated.
The ancient ideas of Vedic Architecture were revived by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the Founder of the Transcendental Meditation Programme, to bring health and well-being to people today.
The article explained, 'Vedic architecture is based on Sanskrit texts that point to a connection between human well-being and spatial relationships, materials and the orientation of buildings. It was said to have been practiced in India 5,000 years ago in the construction of sacred buildings.'
Mr Abramson, a principal of the family-owned Tower Companies, told the Washington Post, 'I think of buildings as a way to elevate the human spirit.'
He was quoted as saying, 'We can build buildings where people excel or become sick inside,' he said. 'If we can explore new avenues to make our workforce healthier, then we should do that.'
Mr Abramson says that the Rockville building's design, which is modeled on the geometry of nature, creates a work environment of calm and clear-mindedness that spurs creativity and helps those working there to be more productive.
His Potomac, Maryland home is also built on Vedic principles as are homes and office buildings in 13 other states, including Fairfield, Iowa, the home of a large community of people who practise Transcendental Meditation.
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
