UK: Employment rates up despite large-scale public sector cuts - expression of rising national coherence, TM teachers say

Despite deep cuts in public spending, including the loss of thousands of jobs, employment rates in the United Kingdom as a whole are up.

Dr Peter Warburton, Chairman of Maharishi Foundation UK, reported this positive news, which has baffled some economic experts, as an expression of rising coherence in the country.

This and related news were examples of periodically 'monitoring the changing trends of time as world consciousness rises in coherence', Dr Warburton explained. Transcendental Meditation teachers attribute this rise in coherence in the nation to the success of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes and technologies of consciousness, including Transcendental Meditation and the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme.

'The UK government, like all governments in Europe, is making drastic cuts in public expenditure in order to reduce the debts of the country. Some say the cuts should be fast and deep and we should just cope with them. Others say they should be slow and shallow, but everyone agrees that cuts are necessary,' Dr Warburton began.

A result of these cuts is that, in the last quarter, the UK lost 30,000 public sector jobs in just three months. This is a continuing process, so more cuts will take place every three months.

This is not the end of the story, though. 'In spite of that, employment is up over the same quarter,' Dr Warburton commented. 'This means that the private sector is bouncing back and not only creating enough jobs to absorb all the cuts in public spending, but actually creating more jobs itself. So while public sector jobs were cut by 30,000, private sector employment increased by 271,000 during the same quarter.'

This is an unexpected result. A high-level economist told Dr Warburton, 'The Bank of England and other dispassionate experts are at a loss to explain the UK's falling unemployment figures during very challenging economic times.'

Transcendental Meditation teachers note additional programmes and technologies of Maharishi that are contributing to this effect, for example special performances by large groups of peace-creating experts, known as the Maharishi Yagya programme. These performances are predicted to create specific, life-supporting effects for individuals and, when done on a large enough scale, for whole nations. This has been having an effect on the national economy, Dr Warburton said.
