Airport Display Features University, Maharishi Vedic City

A large three-foot by nine-foot display at the Cedar Rapids Airport featuring Maharishi University of Management and Maharishi Vedic City has been in place since early January and is visible to all those arriving at the airport.

People arriving from all flights go down the escalator from the boarding gates and walk right up to the display just before leaving the security area on their way to baggage claim.

According to Mario Orsatti of the University's media team, the display came in response to the growing media and public interest, resulting in positive feature articles about Maharishi University of Management, Maharishi Vedic City, and Fairfield in major newspapers throughout the state. These include the Des Moines Register, the Sioux City Journal, the Council Bluffs Nonpareil, the Cedar Rapids Gazette, and the Iowa City Press-Citizen.

'These articles recommended our community as an interesting and wonderful place for people in Iowa to visit, motivating the media team to suggest having a display at the airport to formally invite people to come here,' Mr. Orsatti said.

This suggestion received enthusiastic support from Mayor Robert Wynne and University President Dr. Bevan Morris. The display was designed by Shepley Hansen. Christy Kleinschnitz of the University's Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy played a major role in negotiating the contract and bringing the project to fulfillment.

'The number of Iowa visitors to our community continues to rise, and Maharishi University of Management has begun experiencing a sharp increase in the number of inquiries coming from Iowa students interested in Consciousness-Based education,' Mr. Orsatti said.

This airport display will be changed every three to six months to highlight different aspects of the community.
