Maharishi University of Management, Iowa, US -- Residence halls will be the focus of the next phase of campus reconstruction, with plans to begin the first building this month.

In keeping with a nationwide trend toward the increasing use of home-style living on campuses, each new residence hall will have eight student rooms, each with a private bath, as well as a sitting room, kitchen, and laundry room. There will also be a shared storage space for each cluster of four buildings.

The new residence halls will be manufactured buildings from the same company that is providing the facilities for the 500 Vedic scholars who are expected to be arriving in Maharishi Vedic City this summer.

The residence halls are being constructed according to principles of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design and will be made of non-toxic materials.

University officials hope to have a cluster of four of the new residence halls ready for occupancy this fall. . . .

'The students are excited about the possibility of moving into residence halls built according to Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design,' said Susan Runkle, dean of students. 'It's sending a thrill throughout campus that the residence halls will be the next buildings to go up.'
