On 9 November 2005 The Register-Guard reported: David Lynch, in addition to being an enormously popular filmmaker, has been a Transcendental Meditation practitioner for more than 30 years. He is now sharing the knowledge he has gained with the entire world. During a half-hour telephone interview with the Register-Guard, he vividly answered questions on the powerful impact of Maharishi's Consciousness-Based programmes. It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring fulfilment to the field of culture.

How, he was asked, does TM help you as a filmmaker?

'I don't know how it has influenced it,' he said. 'When fear and anxiety and stress start to leave, it is such a sense of freedom. They say happiness comes from within. When bliss starts growing, it's not that you lose all fear, but the load gets lighter and lighter. It's money in the bank for a creative person.'

Are your colleagues in the movie business at all skeptical of this?

'You know, it's funny. Human beings, we are like detectives. When we hear about certain things we have a sense, an intuitive sense, of something being true or not true. When people hear about this, more often than not there is something that they feel inside, that this could be true. It's a human thing that there is more to life than meets the eye.'

Lynch described himself as an advanced practitioner of TM who has experienced what the organization calls 'Yogic Flying', in which, according to a Web site from the organization's Maharishi University of Management in Iowa, practitioners' bodies 'spontaneously lift up' into the air 'in a series of blissful hops'.

Lynch says he's felt the bubbles himself. 'It's like grabbing on to an electric current line. This practice of Yogic Flying enlivens unity like nobody's business.'

Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
