On 11 January 2007 Bru Direct, Brunei Darussalam reported:
Student winners of Brunei's Environment Poster Competition on 'What a Clean Environment Means to Me' were honoured at a recent dinner. Her Royal Highness Princess Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah awarded the winning prizes.

In addition to the royal guest, local and international dignitaries participated in the event including Brunei's Minister of Development, Pehin Dato Awang HajiAbdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar; the Canadian High Commissioner, Mr Leopold Battel; and Brunei's Director of Environment, Parks and Recreation, Mr Haji Mohd Zakaria Haji Serudin.
The competition was created to raise students' awareness of environmental issues as well as demonstrate creativity. Over three hundred students from ten schools participated. Winners received prizes that ranged from crystal trophies to cash awards.
The High Commission of Canada was one of the co-sponsors, along with HSBC and CIC Environment Services Sdn Bhd.
