22 March 2007
On 22 March 2007 The Independent reported:
At a press conference in Paris, renowned filmmaker and long-time practitioner of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation technique, David Lynch, answered questions about Transcendental Meditation and discussed the creative process.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of culture.
Mr Lynch has been a practitioner of Transcendental Meditation for 33 years. He is quoted as saying that Transcendental Meditation 'allows any human being to dive within and experience the beautiful unbounded ocean of pure consciousness—pure happiness, pure love, pure energy, pure creativity, pure intelligence for any human being, every being.'
Mr Lynch particularly wants students to have the opportunity to benefit from TM. The article states that 'He has set up his own Foundation ... which aims to help schools let students realise their potential through meditation.'
The article describes Mr Lynch as prolific artist, and in his new book, Catching The Big Fish, Mr Lynch describes how Transcendental Meditation has helped his creativity. The article quotes his book as saying, 'Ideas are like fish. If you want to catch little fish, you can stay in the shallow water. But if you want to catch big fish, you've got to go deeper.'
The article also discusses Mr Lynch's unique artistic style and current and past films. His artwork is on display through late May at the Fondation Cartier pour l'Art Contemporain in Paris.
