A delegation of eight to ten Native American tribal leaders will visit Maharishi Vedic City in Iowa, USA, for the weekend of 11-12 August. This was announced by Dr Robert Wynne, Mayor of Maharishi Vedic City and Raja (Administrator) of Vedic America for the Global Country of World Peace, on the Maharishi Channel on 6 August.

Mayor Wynne reflected that the Native Americans inhabited North America thousands of years before anyone else and, as in the case of traditional cultures around the world, had a profound knowledge of Natural Law, including herbal medicine.

There are many Native American nations, Mayor Wynne explained, including several in the Midwestern region of the United States. In the USA, these Native American nations enjoy a high level of sovereignty and power to decide their own educational and health care systems. They also receive federal government support.

The tribal leaders will be accompanied by their council leaders and medicinal experts and will discuss the adoption of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Vedic technologies. In particular, they are interested in Consciousness-Based Education for their school systems, Maharishi's Vedic Approach to Health, Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture, and Maharishi Sthaptya Veda for the construction of their homes and public buildings.

The delegation will meet experts from Maharishi Vedic City and nearby Maharishi University of Management where they will also see the well-established application of all Maharishi's Vedic technologies. Mayor Wynne said that the exchange of knowledge would be in both directions and he looked forward to learning more about Native American traditions.

There has already been some use of Transcendental Meditation in Native American schools, but the delegation will be discussing the establishment of new schools where all the staff and pupils practise the technique.

In one Native American nation, Mayor Wynne said, 10% of the population had learned Transcendental Meditation last year, and a further 10% would be receiving instruction in the technique this year.

One month ago Mayor Wynne met a traditional Native American leader and was interested to learn from him how his father, and the elders of his tribe, had prepared him for leadership. He was taught to rule from silence, Mayor Wynne said, just as the Vedic tradition teaches that perfect administration is automatic when the ruler is established in the silence of the Transcendent. Maharaja Nader Raam, First Ruler of the Global Country of World Peace, is an example of just such leadership, Mayor Wynne commented.

This weekend's visit by Native American leaders to the location of the much publicized Invincible America Assembly can be seen as a natural result of the upsurge of Natural Law, which the Assembly has brought about. A very fruitful collaboration can be expected between Maharishi Vedic City and the Native American nations, following their visit.
