Delegation from the Amazon visits MERU, Holland - Part II

Continuing his talk about the visit of a delegation of traditional leaders from the Amazon to the International Capital of the Global Country of World Peace in MERU, Holland, Dr Chris Crowell, Minister of Religion and Culture for the Global Country of World Peace, spoke about Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes to bring fulfilment to every culture in the family of nations, and how cultures around the world have taken advantage of these programmes.

Life in harmony with Natural Law
As reported in Part I of this article, Dr Crowell emphasized that culture connects the individual and society as a whole with Natural Law, and keeps both the individual and society on the path of peace and progress generation after generation.

'It's interesting to see,' Dr Crowell said, showing slides of the traditional leaders, 'that in their pictures they are all wearing these beautiful headdresses of feathers. They describe how that represents the connection of the ruler, of the individual, with Nature's intelligence. The feathers on the top of the head act as a conduit . . . to enliven Nature's intelligence in the physiology of the individual—and that beautifully reflects how Maharishi has described that the total potential of the brain must be enlivened for the individual to begin to function from the level of Nature's intelligence.

'All of our programmes', Dr Crowell continued, 'our Vedic programmes of Transcendental Meditation and the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, are very, very powerful tools to develop the total potential of the brain so that every ruler and everyone in society can reflect that total organizing power of Natural Law. . . .'

Mother Tongue
In their presentation to the group of dignitaries, the Ministry of Religion and Culture described the great value of traditional language, of the mother tongue, which acts as a connection between the individual and his environment. 'When the mother tongue is not lively, it means that Nature is not being expressed in its fullness,' Dr Crowell said. In Canada, he continued, the Global Country of World Peace organized radio broadcasts of traditional chanting and programming in the mother tongue in order to keep the culture alive. 'We very much honour,' Dr Crowell noted, 'one of the great linguists of a Canadian tribe in western Canada . . . for demonstrating and illustrating the connection between his traditional tongue and the language of Nature as expressed in the Veda.'

Consciousness-Based Education
The traditional leaders from the Amazon also heard about the great importance of Consciousness-Based Education, Dr Crowell said, which not only enlivens the full potential of the student, but also creates coherence in society so that the cultural diversity of the nation is always maintained in harmony. Dr Crowell noted in particular Consciousness-Based Education programmes in South Africa, where an additional campus to an existing school is underway; in Australia, where an aboriginal community is enjoying the benefits of the students practising Transcendental Meditation; and in the United States, where national invincibility is rising through the group of Yogic Flyers at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa. There are students in 60 countries enjoying Consciousness-Based Education, Dr Crowell said, 'and each one of them is rising in enlightenment [while simultaneously creating] an invincible nation in a world of peace'.

Elimination of Poverty
Maharishi's global economic development programme to eliminate poverty and create balance in the world economy was another aspect of Maharishi's knowledge presented to the delegation. Dr Crowell said that 'just as in the body, if there is one part of the body that is suffering, it causes trouble for the entire physiology, the same thing is true in our world family. If there is any one community that is in poverty, that is suffering . . . then the entire world family suffers. Maharishi has brought forth a very beautiful programme to develop the economy, especially of indigenous groups, to help them develop unused land with agricultural potential to grow organic crops for export.' Another aspect of the programme is to 'build new homes, fortune-creating homes in farm villages where people can enjoy a high quality of life—with schools and clinics and celebration halls so the life of their culture will be truly supported'. Such a programme, an organic farming project, is being enjoyed in Ghana, for example, Dr Crowell said.

'There is no reason now for anyone to live in poverty, there is no reason now for anyone in our world family to suffer in any way. This was really a beautiful summation of the programmes we are offering to traditional rulers around the world so that every culture can really blossom in its fullness and so we can fulfil that ideal of Vasudhaiva kutumbakam, 'The world is my family'—a beautiful mosaic of differences on the ground of unity. This is the beautiful blessing of Maharishi's Vedic knowledge coming to the world through Maharaja Adhiraj Raja Raam and his Global Country of World Peace functioning in every country and reaching out to every culture,' Dr Crowell concluded.
