25 March 2010
On 25 March 2010 College Times reported:
Matt Skiba, lead singer of popular music band Alkaline Trio, talks about his music and how his practice of Transcendental Meditation has brought him more inner calm and creativity--and has positively influenced his life.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of culture.
'It [the Transcendental Meditation Programme] really does bring this . . . inner peace and inner consciousness that really lends itself to the creative process,' the article quotes him as saying.
'It's good for everything. I do it all the time* and it has just improved my life,' Skiba continues in the article.
He describes in the article how he came to learn Transcendental Meditation: 'The thing that turned me on to meditation was a book that David Lynch wrote called ''Catching the Big Fish'' and it's about Transcendental Meditation.
'So David Lynch, who is known for his kind of dark . . . movies, has been doing this for about 30 years. So it doesn't take your edge away. . . ,' Skiba tells the College Times.
The article also reports on the band's newest album and what 'punk rock' means to Skiba. '. . . I think punk rock is just a form of thinking that isn't a hairstyle or a t-shirt or anything like that. I think it's being an individual and thinking for yourself,' Skiba says in the article.
Global Good News comment:
* The Transcendental Meditation Technique is practised for about twenty minutes twice a day.
