The Global Mother Divine Organization* in Canada has been meeting with women First Nations leaders in their country, as well as other indigenous women leaders from around the world. Several initiatives have highlighted the organization's programmes for the benefit of indigenous women's health.

The organization reported on achievements in Canada on the final day of the recent Third International GMDO Congress in MERU, Holland.

Dr Helen Foster Grimmett, Director of the GMDO Foundation for the Development of Consciousness in Canada, organized a meeting to welcome to Victoria Julieta Casimiro Mazatec, a revered Elder from Huautla de Jimenez, who is a member of the International Council of the Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers.

Last spring, a nationwide conference call was held with members of the Global Country of World Peace to honour the revered indigenous mothers of Canada. On the call were three prominent First Nations leaders, who are working with GMDO Canada to implement Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes in Aboriginal communities.

GMDO in Canada also facilitated the visit of two women First Nations leaders to Maharishi Vedic City in Iowa, USA, where they stayed at The Raj Maharishi Ayurveda Health Spa. The two leaders, Marie Frawley-Henry, Women's Issues Specialist/Senior Policy Analyst for the Assembly of First Nations; and Kathleen McHugh, Chair of the Women's Council of the Assembly of First Nations, were hosted by the Raj Rajeshwaris** for the United States and Canada during their visit.

The organization also submitted an abstract to the Aboriginal Nurses Association of Canada for a presentation at their fall conference. The topic will be the new one-year certificate programme for nurses—Maharishi Ayur-Vedic Medicine Mother-Baby Health Care—offered online through the School of Nursing and Health Professions at Brandman University in California, USA.

Global Good News will continue to feature GMDO delegates' reports about their countries, as well as other presentations during the Third International Congress in Holland.
