Fifty small Vastu structures completed worldwide

'The effect of Vastu is to align individual intelligence with cosmic intelligence, individual life with cosmic life. This happens when the environment that we are inhabiting is organized according to Natural Law,' said Jon Lipman, AIA, US Director of Maharishi Vedic Architecture, describing Vastu principles brought to light by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Many people are choosing to build even a small structure—as small as 10 or 20 square metres (approximately 100 or 200 square feet)—in order to enjoy this effect.
About 50 small structures have been built according to Vedic architecture, of which about 30 have been built in the United States, Dr Lipman reported.
In Belgium, a man living in a 35 square metre house (about 380 square feet) says: 'Living in Vastu big or small, for me is like living in another world. My house, as small as it is, nonetheless gives me the effect.'
The homeowner experiences the benefits of Vastu all the time, Dr Lipman said, summarizing his description. The effects are sometimes subtle, sometimes very clear—and the effect is especially evident during his practice of the Transcendental Meditation Programme.
Some time ago, he writes, he had to spend about ten days in a non-Vastu house. When he returned home he realized that he had much less energy than when he left. He said: 'I was shocked. That was really the first time I understood why Maharishi had been putting so much attention on Vastu.'
Visitors to another small home—about 140 square metres—built near Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, USA described it as 'very comfortable, spacious, and dignified'.
It is common for people to feel that in a Vastu home 'the walls do not contain the flow of consciousness . . . ,' Dr Lipman commented, '[which] may be what gives us a sense that the house is spacious beyond its physical size.'
Photos of many small Vastu homes around the world can be viewed on the Facebook® page for Maharishi Vastu Architecture.
In the coming days, Global Good News will continue to feature Maharishi Vastu initiatives around the world.
