The David Lynch Foundation was invited to speak about Transcendental Meditation and Consciousness-Based Education this year at Britain's most popular pop music festival. Known as the Bestival, the gathering on the Isle of Wight in the south of England attracted 50,000 music lovers, most of whom were able to hear a short talk about the far-reaching benefits of Transcendental Meditation.

The organizer of the Bestival is a famous radio DJ who practises Transcendental Meditation and is also a friend of David Lynch. He invited the Foundation to give a presentation at the festival, and featured the presentation prominently in the Bestival's agenda.

The David Lynch Foundation, as well as Dr Peter Warburton, an administrator of the Transcendental Meditation Programme in the UK, arranged to give five-minute presentations from the main stage of the festival. The presentations were timed before or after the main acts, when most of the 50,000 attendees were present.

Apart from music acts, these presentations were the only events featured on the main stage.

The Bestival organizer also arranged for a quiet area where 50 to 100 people could come to hear longer talks about Transcendental Meditation, Consciousness-Based Education, and the work of the David Lynch Foundation.

Dr Warburton, who spoke at the music festival, recently commented, 'I found that there was no resistance to the knowledge. Certainly there were different levels of interest . . . but the knowledge wasn't out of place.'

He continued, 'It was just a beautiful feeling of receptivity.'

The David Lynch Foundation also made a two-minute video showing children from all around the world practising Transcendental Meditation. This was played from the main stage of the festival for up to 20,000 people at a time. Dr Warburton reported that the audience just stopped and watched, mesmerized.

The video included children and young adults from many countries, including students, monks, and soldiers.

The organizer mentioned that at next year's event, he would like to give even more prominence to presentations from the David Lynch Foundation.
