At a recent conference in Spain for young people, award-winning film director David Lynch unveiled a new project. He mentioned that the documentary he had just finished—about a 2007 international tour for Consciousness-Based Education—was one of his most important priorities and something he was extremely proud of.

The young attendees from many European countries enjoyed interacting with Mr Lynch during a question-and-answer session to begin the conference, in which he participated via teleconference. One young filmmaker asked Mr Lynch about money. He wanted to know if money is important in life, or if Mr Lynch felt he had moved beyond that need.

Mr Lynch responded, according to Dr Peter Warburton, an administrator of the Transcendental Meditation Programme who was involved in the conference, by saying, 'Everyone loves money and everyone when they're growing up thinks it's going to give them happiness. But actually the truth is you can never get enough money, number one. And number two, it doesn't give happiness; whatever you get, it's not that which gives you happiness.'

Mr Lynch went on to praise Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, explaining to the audience that Maharishi has really clarified understanding of the modern world, letting everyone know that happiness is actually deep within, not something external or something that can be bought.

David Lynch has for over 30 years practised Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Technique, which gives the direct experience of the field of transcendental consciousness deep within the mind, described by Maharishi as a field of unlimited happiness.

Dr Warburton described Mr Lynch's explanation of 'how intuition, from that field of consciousness, is the number one tool of the artist'.

The filmmaker then explained how happiness informs the process of working and that creativity just flows out when happiness is established—in Maharishi's explanation, most directly through the regular experience of transcending.

Asked what his next major project was, Mr Lynch spoke about the documentary he had just finished, featuring the 16-nation speaking tour he participated in during the second half of 2007. On the tour, he spoke alongside Dr John Hagelin, world-renowned quantum physicist, and Dr Bevan Morris, President of Maharishi University of Management. They talked to students and young people in cities all over Europe and the world.

The speaking tour focused on the benefits of Transcendental Meditation and Consciousness-Based Education.

Like all of Mr Lynch's work, the documentary is well put together, Dr Warburton said. It is now finished and copies are available all around the world.

This was one of his most important projects at the moment, Mr Lynch told conference attendees, and he wanted to make sure the film was available everywhere and widely seen. He said it answers a lot of questions that people may have about Consciousness-Based Education and meditation.

The young people at the conference immediately started planning how they could set up screenings of the documentary at universities and colleges in their home countries.
