Women in France have been enjoying programmes and events offered by the Transcendental Meditation programme for women this year. Recent news updates have highlighted presentations on French culture and Vedic gardens, in-residence assemblies and special conference calls, and the inauguration of a new club in Paris where people can enjoy practising Transcendental Meditation together.

∙ In April at a national conference call for women who practise Transcendental Meditation, the director of the Foundation for Total Knowledge Based Culture gave an in-depth talk on French culture and local dialects. The conference also featured a presentation on Maharishi Vedic Gardens, which uphold fundamental laws of nature in the design of small and large gardens, public parks, and forest gardens.

∙ In May, with Dr Michael Dillbeck and Dr Susan Dillbeck, trustees of Maharishi University of Management,* attending, members of the organization inaugurated a new club, called Veda Club, for people in the area who practise Transcendental Meditation. Located in Paris, the new club has facilities for regular group practice of Transcendental Meditation and its advanced techniques, and through this programme is becoming a lighthouse of coherence and harmony for Paris and France.

∙ Early in the year a group of women from France attended a course at the Global Capital of World Peace at the geographical centre (Brahmasthan) of India. One highlight of their stay was a series of several celebrations that included special Vedic performances by Maharishi Vedic Pandits, members of the large group in residence at the Brahmasthan, to support the rise of peace and progress in the world.

∙ In March, the organization in France hosted a telephone conference during which many women shared valuable organizational ideas as well as their plans for the future; follow-up meetings were also planned.

Global Good News will report on women's programmes this year in other European countries.

* Dr Michael Dillbeck is an International Research Professor at Maharishi University of Management and a widely published researcher on the physiological, cognitive, and sociological effects of the Transcendental Meditation technique. Dr Susan Dillbeck is President of the International Foundation of Consciousness-Based Education. They are also administrators for France of programmes developed by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
