On 13 November a public screening of David Lynch's new documentary Meditation, Creativity, Peace was held in Croatia. The film looks at the award-winning director's creative process, the role of Transcendental Meditation in reducing stress and increasing creativity, and the importance of groups of people practising the technique together to create coherence in society and world peace.

One of the translators of the film from English into Croatian was Vedran Turkalj, who would also like to screen the documentary on national television.

Mr Turkalj, who has been practising the technique for 17 years, is the new director of the Transcendental Meditation organization in Croatia. Working with the teachers of the programme he has developed a number of plans for its expansion in the country.

These include establishing a Maharishi University of World Peace, increasing public awareness of the benefits of Maharishi Ayurveda natural health care, establishing a Maharishi Ayurveda health centre, and establishing a large international group of advanced meditators in the country to reduce social stress and create a coherent influence for Croatia and Europe.

Mr Turkalj also plans to develop a glossary of terms used by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Transcendental Meditation programme, in describing his Vedic Science and technologies of consciousness. The goal is to provide consistent and accurate translation of Maharishi's lectures, books, and videos into Croatian.

Another plan is to establish a lending library with books written by Maharishi and books about Transcendental Meditation.

Some interest has been shown in the community for students potentially to learn Transcendental Meditation, to gain scientifically proven benefits such as increased learning ability and academic achievement, and development of integrated brain functioning. There is also interest in applications of the technique in rehabilitation, which have been successful in several areas including among prison inmates.
