Fourteen-year-old Maharishi School student Noah Caplan scored four wins out of five rounds to tie for third place out of a large competitive field of 44 players in the annual Iowa State Class E Championships held in Iowa City last month.

The tournament draws many of the most promising young scholastic players in the state every year who are in the advanced beginner/intermediate level and rapidly improving.

'Noah is the most talented and motivated Maharishi School chess player our club has seen in quite a while,' said John Salerno, director of the Maharishi University of Management chess club. 'He appears to have the potential to blossom into one of the state's top juniors in a fairly short time.'
