Four faculty artists will be among those exhibiting their work at ICON Gallery in Fairfield in a show titled 'Visible/Invisible: Work from a Visionary Community' and curated by ICON director Bill Teeple. It will open Friday, April 7, at the monthly Art Walk and will run through May 19.

Faculty artists include Gillian Brown, Charlotte Cain, Michael Cain, and Jim Shrosbree.

The works represented were among those exhibited recently at a very successful run at Coe College in Cedar Rapids—described as a 'must see' show by the Cedar Rapids Gazette. The show will come to Fairfield reformatted to fit in ICON Gallery (formerly Gallery 51 East) and ICON 2 Gallery.

'Recent shows and rumors coming out of New York and Los Angeles suggest a trend toward work that evokes, or at least refers to, spirituality, transcendence, meditation, ecstasy or, what I would call work in the direction of wholeness or unity,' Mr. Teeple said. 'The artists of Fairfield have been addressing this theme for over 30 years. The quest is the integration of material formalism with transcendence, spirituality, and unity. At the core of the Fairfield quest has been this group of artists. Although the structure and subject matter of the work differs, each artist, in his or her way, is attempting to make the unseen seen.'

ICON Gallery (Gallery 51 East) and ICON 2 Gallery are galleries of Iowa Contemporary Art, an Iowa nonprofit corporation. ICON Gallery is located at 51 East Broadway, third floor in Fairfield.

Enter on the alley on the north side of the square. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 1:00 to 3:30 and 5:00 to 9:30 p.m., Saturday, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., or by appointment.

ICON 2 Gallery is located at 108 West Broadway, second floor. It is open for the Art Walk and by appointment.
