Bahrain to host solar energy conference

On 8 October 2006 Bahrain News Agency reported: The island of Bahrain has announced it will be the host of a three-day international conference on solar energy. Global Good News service views this news as a sign of rising positivity in the field of education, documenting the growth of life-supporting, evolutionary trends.

The regional conference is being hosted by the University of Bahrain and the International Solar Energy Society.

Topics of discussion will include water desalination through the use of solar energy and wind mills, construction of sustainable buildings connected to solar cells and wind mills, as well as ways of reducing pollution to fulfil the requirements of the Kyoto protocol.

Dr Waheeb Al Nasser, Conference Secretary, stated that 12 distinguished speakers will attend—from Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, United States, Japan, and a neighbouring Arab country. In addition, more that 100 scholarly papers representing 24 countries will be presented at the conference.
