On 24 April 2007 DeMorgan reported: Dr Ashley Deans, Director of Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment recently visited Belgium as part of his tour to introduce 'stress-free schools' to countries around the world. Dr Deans and the Belgian Committee of Stress-free Schools are working to bring the many benefits of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Transcendental Meditation Programme to the students of Belgium. It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring fulfilment to the field of education.

The article states that stress is the root cause of problems such as abuse of 'alcohol or non-prescribed drugs, depression, ... teacher burn-out, even escalating violence'. These problems are all 'the symptoms of one and the same disease: Stress', the president of the Belgian Committee of Stress-free Schools, Steven Vandenbosch is quoted as saying.

According to headmasters who have implemented the Stress-free Schools programme—which incorporates the Transcendental Meditation Technique into the curriculum—students and faculty become more calm and alert, and their academic achievements significantly improve. In addition, teachers at these schools enjoy their work more. Students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) also benefit significantly from the practice of Transcendental Meditation.

The article praised Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment in Fairfield, Iowa, USA saying it serves as a model for other schools utilizing this approach. The article reported that the 'students in this school are, year after year, at the top in the United States in nationally standardized tests. The school has gotten more then a hundred prizes in competitions between schools on the regional, national, and international level. More then 95% of the students go on to higher education.'

The New York Times listed the concept of ''stress-free schools'' as number one on their 'best ideas of 2005' list', the article stated.
