The M.U.M. Review Maharishi University of Management, Iowa, USA Translate This Article
8 June 2007
Maharishi School 10th grader Tye Huggins won first place in the 2007 Congressional Arts Competition, and his winning photo will be on display for a year in a passageway in the U.S. Capitol Building.
In addition, a drawing by Maria Aalto, which by virtue of earning a second-place award, will hang in Iowa Congressman Dave Loebsack's office for a year.
There were 90 works entered from Congressman Loebsack's district. In addition to the winners, four Maharishi School students received honorable mention. Mr. Huggins and Ms. Aalto both received an honorable mention for a second work, and Mira Moore and Tahra Wilkins also received honorable mention. Their art will be hung in the Iowa District Offices of Congressman Loebsack.
The students learned their photography skills from teacher Carolyn Waksman and their art skills from teacher Greg Thatcher.
This was the 25th year of the contest, with students from all 435 congressional districts nationwide submitting work.
