Ethiopia warming up to Consciousness-Based Education

Dr Kibre Dawit, National Leader of the Global Country of World Peace in Ethiopia and Director of Consciousness-Based Education for Ladies in that nation, reported on their most recent developments and successes during a special live global broadcast on 19 July 2007. Her presentation was part of the 'Global Celebration of Consciousness-Based Education for Mothers in Every Generation', which was featured during the commencement ceremonies of Maharishi University of Enlightenment. Following is a transcript of Dr Dawit's talk.

Following is a transcript of Dr Dawit's talk:

'My name is Kibre Dawit and I am the National Leader and Director for Consciousness-Based Education in Ethiopia, a country of 73 million people, the second most populated country in Africa.

'The warmer air generated by the coherence-creating groups around the world has reached my country! Just in the last few weeks, prompted by a letter from Maharishi University of Enlightenment, the national education authorities in Ethiopia have begun to give their blessings for the introduction of Consciousness-Based Education in our schools.

'This reversal of a previous policy comes like welcome rain after a long drought.

'Since I am the owner of a private school (and university) in Addis Ababa, I immediately took advantage of this new openness by starting to teach Transcendental Meditation to the students and faculty in my own school, and I am expecting several more schools to be officially designated where a pilot program could be introduced.

'Although there are currently 216 Ethiopian students enrolled in Maharishi University of Management in the USA, I am still the only Teacher of Transcendental Meditation in Ethiopia.

'There is a Vedic Expression: Eko'ham bahusyam—I am one, may I be many.

'I am currently interviewing candidates and trying to raise funds to send 3-4-5 Ethiopian Meditators to the Transcendental Meditation Teacher Training Course starting in South Africa on Guru Purnima (29 July).

'At this time when we are on the verge of being able to teach large numbers of students, having more Teachers of Transcendental Meditation will really be of benefit for my country.

'In closing, I would like to thank the Raj Rajeshwaris (Administrators of ladies' programmes of the Global Country of World Peace) for their attention and guidance, which is giving me great support in fulfilling my long-held desire to crown my nation with Invincibility.
