Dr Joseph Hayden, National Leader of Ireland for the Global Country of World Peace, reported the inspiring events and wide-ranging influence of the brief-but-dynamic visit to Ireland of Dr David Lynch and Dr Donovan Leitch, along with Dr Bevan Morris and Dr John Hagelin.

Some time ago, Irish leaders of the Global Country of World Peace were brainstorming what more they could do to create invincibility for their nation. They decided that a visit of Dr David Lynch and Dr Donovan Leitch would be the perfect catalyst. When they learned that the two could come—but only for one day—they planned carefully to make every moment count.

A Dublin interview for the Sunday Independent, the largest newspaper in Ireland, yielded, as Dr Hayden said, 'a wonderful article full of Maharishi's knowledge and information from Dr Lynch'. In a pre-recorded radio interview, Dr Lynch discussed films and then Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation (TM) Technique. When it was broadcast, Dr Hayden said, the moderator began and ended the interview with a personal endorsement.

At Trinity College in Dublin, Dr Lynch, Dr Leitch, Dr Bevan Morris (Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace), and Dr John Hagelin, Executive Director of the International Center for Invincible Defence in New York City, USA, were welcomed with a royal piper and garlands. Dr Hayden said, 'It was a great privilege and a great omen of what would come.' The auditorium was completely packed for this main event, with some 200 more people in an overflow room.

Dr Lynch spoke about his films and talked of 'catching big ideas', developing and following through on them—referring to his new book, Catching the Big Fish: Meditation, Consciousness and Creativity. Then he said he was 'even more attached to diving within, enabling him to fulfil these great ideas.' He talked about the bliss he felt from his first experience of Transcendental Meditation, which he still feels after 35 years of TM practice. He told his audience that happiness and world peace were not just an idle hope, that there was something they can do about world peace, through groups of people practising Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying.

'There is a dreadful atmosphere in colleges at the moment,' Dr Lynch continued, sharing his desire to reduce stress for students of all ages through his David Lynch Foundation for ensuring 'that any student can learn TM to improve every aspect of their school and personal life.' Dr Hayden reported that Donovan then charmed everyone with his songs, 'bringing back the hope and great upliftment his songs gave in the 60's.' Dr Lynch closed with a quote that included, 'May everyone be happy and free of disease; may auspiciousness be seen everywhere; may suffering belong to no one.' Dr Hayden said that after it, 'You could hear a pin drop. Then the audience erupted in a spontaneous standing ovation that went on for many minutes. The atmosphere was truly electric and everyone was very inspired.'

A VIP reception was held afterwards at the hotel for 70 invited guests from seven universities, four institutes of technology, film schools around the country, politicians, business leaders, property developers, and journalists. Dr Lynch signed copies of his book and Donovan his new DVD and both spoke with people individually. Dr Lynch and Donovan also met with and inspired local Teachers of the Transcendental Meditation Technique.

All this, Dr Hayden said, took place in one day!
