Dr Ashley Deans, Ambassador of Consciousness-Based Education for the Global Country of World Peace*, recently toured India and visited several Maharishi Vidya Mandirs**, and also made a fruitful stop at Allahabad University. 'Over 100,000 students are enrolled in the Maharishi Vidya Mandirs,' Dr Deans reports to Global Good News. 'These are private schools throughout India, where students practise Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation, and 30,000 of the students are Yogic Flyers. They are a tremendous source of coherence for India.'

Dr Deans visited the Mandirs in Jabalpur and Allahabad, each with 3,000 to 5,000 students, and commented on the 'neat, orderly, and well-behaved student body'. The students welcoming Dr Deans performed a traditional dance and sang Vedic songs celebrating the greatness of India. Dr Deans gave a lecture to the parents that was received with great warmth and enthusiasm as he presented the latest international news of Maharishi Vedic Science. He also informed them of the exciting opportunity for the Yogic Flying boys who graduate from these schools to attend Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, USA; for which they also have the opportunity to receive a partial scholarship from M.U.M. and the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace.

While in Allahabad, Dr Deans and Dr John Hagelin*** made presentations to the dean and vice chancellor of Allahabad University, who are very keen to implement Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes in the curriculum.

'Allahabad University is where Maharishi graduated with a degree in physics, and it is mentioned in their brochure that Maharishi Mahesh Yogi is one of their greatest alumni,' Dr Deans explained. 'The university is eager to start an exchange programme with Maharishi University of Management in the USA, and has already dedicated a building on campus for the teaching of Transcendental Meditation and Maharishi Vedic Science. Faculty have begun learning Transcendental Meditation, and students will begin their TM courses in August. Allahabad University seeks to become a living memorial to their greatest alumnus, Maharishi, and grow in its achievements, becoming an example for all the universities of India to follow.'

* Dr Deans is also National Education Director for the Global Country of World Peace in the United States.

** Maharishi Vidya Mandirs: The largest chain of privately owned public schools in India, covering 16 states in 118 cities throughout India, with over 100,000 students in 143 branches, teaching Consciousness Based-Education.

*** Dr Hagelin is also Raja of Invincible America for the Global Country of World Peace.
