Dr Paul Gelderloos, National Director of Invincible Netherlands for the Global Country of World Peace, recently reported on expanding interest in Consciousness-Based Education.

Speaking on the Maharishi Global Family Chat he said that a national newspaper recently featured the Consciousness-Based primary school and the Invincibility College in Lelystad.

The article reported that the Transcendental Meditation Technique is central to these schools. Transcendental Meditation reduces stress, enhances brain functioning, and enables the students to better remember and utilize what they learn. 'Through meditation, children connect to a source of knowledge within themselves,' the article quoted the director of the Invincibility College as saying.

Out of 80 private schools in the nation, the article only featured one other school, Dr Gelderloos noted.

Dr Gelderloos also reported that a school with 380 students is interested in implementing Consciousness-Based Education. The school already 'subscribe[s] to some principles which are very remarkably similar to our [Consciousness-Based Education] principles' and it offers its students a 'silent room' where the children can relax, Dr Gelderloos said.

The director of the school would like to organize a symposium for all the educators of the province, and he thinks at least 300 will come, Dr Gelderloos continued. He would like the symposium to feature demonstrations of increased brain wave coherence through the practice of Transcendental Meditation.

In addition, Dr Gelderloos reported that 'we're in the process of acquiring a primary school and high school', and that support for this process has come from every side. The funding is in place, and after studying the extensive scientific research on the Internet, the director of the schools decided that he wanted his schools to benefit from Consciousness-Based Education. The two schools together have 100 students.

There is also a proposed initiative to construct a Vastu school building and establish another Consciousness-Based school for 200 students.

In terms of offering Maharishi's programmes to the nation, education is a primary focus, Dr Gelderloos said. Maharishi had emphasized, Dr Gelderloos said, that through education we secure the children's future and the enlightenment of all generations to come.
