Plans for agricultural college on island of Saint Kitts

Speaking 4 November 2008 on Maharishi Global Family Chat, Dr Richard Shelford, Teacher of the Transcendental Meditation Technique for the Global Country of World Peace, reported plans to establish a college of Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture within his native country, the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

The college, to be located on the island of Saint Kitts, will teach courses in the areas of business and agro-technology, among others. Already, Dr Shelford and his team have held planning discussions with the government of Saint Kitts, including a member of the Ministry of Agriculture. 'Everyone we've talked to has been overjoyed with the idea,' he commented.

A plot of unused farmland has been offered for the college. The land, said Dr Shelford, still contains a few dairy cows and old farm equipment, which might be utilized for the college and other agricultural projects for the Global Country of World Peace. 'In addition to the college,' said Dr Shelford, 'we hope to establish a niche agricultural market from this land, as well as a site for agro-tourism.'

To move forward with this project, Dr Shelford hopes to attract more Teachers of Transcendental Meditation from Canada, where he is currently residing.
