Children to learn Transcendental Meditation in plan for two academies specialising in technique
Daily Mail Translate This Article
24 February 2009
On 24 February 2009 Daily Mail reported:
Derek Cassells, Headmaster of Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment in Ormskirk, Lancashire, England, wants to set up two academies to teach pupils Transcendental Meditation, which leads to students displaying greater creativity and intelligence, better behaviour, and inner peace -- an effective way for them to do better in school, he says.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of education.
Mr Cassells has made a proposal to the Department for Children, Schools, and Families for two academies that would include the Transcendental Meditation Programme along with their regular courses. Students would practise Transcendental Meditation, as first introduced to the UK by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, for ten minutes twice a day by sitting quietly at their desks with their eyes closed.
Responding to concerns about whether Transcendental Meditation is a religion, Mr Cassells says that there is no religious aspect to the practise of Transcendental Meditation. He added that the schools would operate an open admissions policy for children of any faith.
Headmaster Cassells told the Times Educational Supplement, 'Meditation brings balance to the nervous system. This leads to greater creativity, intelligence and harmony, and better behaviour.'
The Daily Mail quoted Mr Cassells as saying, 'The whole understanding of this is that effective education begins with neurological and physiological balance.
'The best way to achieve that is with inner quietness, called restful alertness. TM is an effective way for children to create neurological balance and do better in school.'
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
