Students, faculty at Buddhist girls' school in Thailand enjoy Transcendental Meditation Programme

A girls' boarding school near Bangkok, Thailand, is enjoying great success, having incorporated Consciousness-Based Education into its educational programme six months ago. Students and faculty are reporting improved learning, more efficient teaching, greater happiness, and better relationships both within the school and at home.

The project at this school is one of many educational initiatives by the Global Mother Divine Organization* for ladies of Southeast Asia. The school was featured in a recent report by members of the organization in Thailand, where several programmes are in progress. Please also see Part I, Part II, and Part III of this series.

In August 2008, the principal of the girls' school was inspired by the Director of the Global Mother Divine Organization in Thailand to introduce the Transcendental Meditation Technique in her educational institution.

Under the continuing guidance of Global Mother Divine Organization members who are Teachers of Transcendental Meditation, all 200 students and faculty practise Transcendental Meditation regularly and have expressed wonderful results.

The boarding school is under the care of Buddhist nuns, and spiritual development is an important aspect of the girls' education. Many features of the school reflect its Vedic heritage, as expressed in Buddhist tradition. The 20 hectare school has an east entrance graced with a statue of Lord Buddha.

East and north entrances, considered auspicious according to principles of Vedic Architecture, are found throughout the school campus—for example, the Upper School faces north, and the Lower School faces east. The administrative building also faces east, opening onto a garden, and near an organic vegetable garden is a pond; both areas include structures dedicated to administering intelligences of Natural Law.

All the students gather in the school each day for group practice of Transcendental Meditation. Several commented on their experiences. One student said, 'After meditation, my mood is much better. I sleep well. I am more diligent and more kind. I feel fresh every day when I wake up. My memory and ability to learn are much better. My life is so bright, I want to continue Transcendental Meditation.'

Another student reported, 'Before I learnt Transcendental Meditation I was quite selfish. Now my friends say my behaviour is much better. I smile more often.'

The students are eager to learn Yogic Flying, and proposed future plans include offering the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme at the school, to accelerate their contribution to invincibility for Thailand and for all of Southeast Asia.
