During a recent tour of countries in the Balkan region of southeastern Europe, Dr Felix Kaegi and Dr Ashley Deans had two to four meetings every day, all with top level educators: Ministers of Education, deans of universities, principals of schools, and those responsible for higher education.
Dr Deans, Global Ambassador for Consciousness-Based Education and Executive Director of Maharishi School in Fairfield, Iowa, USA, 'would point out that modern education has led to many of the problems facing society today,' said Raja Felix, 'and that it is very possible for an individual to end up with less intelligence after finishing his PhD than when he started high school.' Dr Kaegi is administrator of the Transcendental Meditation Programme for several Balkan countries, including Albania, Serbia, and Slovenia.
Dr Deans presented the need for applying Consciousness-Based Education to overcome the problems of education, and to improve the society in general, through developing the genius of every student. Dr Kaegi described Dr Deans as a very dynamic lecturer, who gives a 'powerful presentation on Consciousness-Based Education'.
He also related that during their tour in Albania, university dean in one city was keenly interested to sign a memorandum of understanding with Maharishi University of Management in the United States.
They also met with the leadership of an agricultural university in Tirana, which is also keen to have a close collaboration with Maharishi University of Management, particularly in the field of sustainable agricultural development.
Global Good News will feature a second article about Dr Deans' tour in the Balkans in the coming days.
