On 8 April 2009 The Courier Mail, Australia reported: Recently released research into brain function shows that students who practised Transcendental Meditation had more positive brain responses and were less stressed than controls who did not meditate. It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring fulfilment to the field of education.

A study conducted at American University in Washington, DC, in conjunction with Maharishi University of Management Center for Brain, Consciousness and Cognition, has shown that students using Transcendental Meditation had improved brain functioning following a ten-week course in meditation.

According to the article, other research studies have shown benefits of Transcendental Meditation including reduced high blood pressure, cholesterol, and insomnia, and improved mental health.

Comments were included from Dr Fred Travis, the leader of the research team, that the brain activity of those in the control group was more 'fragmented', which he said leads to 'more scattered . . . thinking and planning'. The results of this study were published in February in the International Journal of Psychophysiology.

The article, posted in Courier Mail.com in Australia, also reported that Richard Meyers, a 14-year-old Grade 10 student at Indooroopilly State High School, is finding similar good results with the meditation technique.

'Richard started doing Transcendental Meditation twice a day four years ago when he was just 10. He now does it for about 14 minutes, twice a day, and says he feels the benefits in being more relaxed and able to think clearly,' the article reported.

'If I'm in an angry mood, after it I just feel calm, cooled down and clear minded,' he was quoted as saying.

Richard's parents are both involved in Transcendental Meditation—his father has been teaching for 35 years, and his mother practising 30 years.

One school principal in Toogoolawah said that twice daily meditation has helped children improve their behaviour.

Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
