Educators in France offer programme to develop students' full potential

Tens of thousands of students around the world have improved grades, reduced stress, and transformed schools through a programme known as Consciousness-Based Education. The recent concert in New York, Change Begins Within—organized by the David Lynch Foundation and featuring a historic reunion of Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr—brought the programme to the attention of the world.

Proponents of the programme say it develops students' full mental potential through a unique academic approach including the Transcendental Meditation Technique. Extensively researched, Consciousness-Based Education has gained worldwide praise for improving grades and quality of life for both students and teachers, often in high stress environments.

In France, Instructors of the Transcendental Meditation Programme—founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi—and a team of education specialists have documented the benefits of Consciousness-Based Education, and are contacting administrators of 300 private academic institutions. Their aim is to share the research with principals, parents, and teachers, and to provide support for any school that wishes to implement the programme.

Newly developed resources include: an informational brochure; a French translation of A Record of Excellence by Dr Ashley Deans*, Executive Director of Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment, USA; and a DVD presentation of Consciousness-Based Education by Dr John Hagelin, a leading quantum physicist and educator**. There is also a website, www.education-conscience.fr.

A course to train leaders in Consciousness-Based Education will be offered in October, said Dr Dominique Lemoine, National Director of France for the Global Country of World Peace—the educational organization established by Maharishi to create peace and invincibility for every nation, perfect health and enlightenment for every individual.

*Dr Deans also serves at Global Ambassador of the Global Country of World Peace for Consciousness-Based Education.
