Dr Ashley Deans*, Global Ambassador for Consciousness-Based Education, and other leaders recently gave presentations about Consciousness-Based Education throughout Japan. Local Transcendental Meditation Teachers are following up with all the interested schools throughout Japan, Dr Deans noted, adding that about ten schools are ready to implement Consciousness-Based Education.

The delegation met with a monk who learned the Transcendental Meditation Programme, became qualified as a Transcendental Meditation Teacher, and is now teaching Transcendental Meditation to Buddhist monks in other countries. He's instructed about 2,000 Monks in Thailand, and they'll soon learn Yogic Flying, Dr Deans said. In Cambodia about 1,000 monks are ready to learn Transcendental Meditation, and he will soon be teaching in Japan as well.

Inspired by the Consciousness-Based Education conference in Osaka, the principal of a school in Kyoto invited Dr Deans and his team to come and meet with him. The students at his school already practise another form of meditation, but they are interested in Transcendental Meditation because it is effortless and natural, he said.

After years of seeing students easily settle down and enjoy deep silence during their practice of Transcendental Meditation, Dr Deans said it was interesting to see students at another school practising their form of meditation, and how the students began to fidget after just a couple minutes. The administrators of the school understood that Consciousness-Based Education offers a technique that is simple and natural—and 'was part of their heritage', Dr Deans said.

Dr Deans said that because of the numerous problems in education today, it's very unusual for a school principal to say 'no' after hearing how easily Consciousness-Based Education addresses these problems.

School principals are open to this all over the world, he said. One just has to visit the schools and present this knowledge.

Global Good News will feature the continuation of Dr Deans' talk in the coming days.

*Dr Deans is also Executive Director of Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment in Fairfield, Iowa, USA.
