Dr Travis spoke to 600 professionals in Medellin, Colombia, about the effects of stress on the brains of Colombia's street children, and how the Transcendental Meditation Programme can help alleviate these effects. He was invited to speak by Father Gabriel Mejia, a Catholic priest who directs 47 shelters for homeless children and youth offenders in Colombia and throughout South America.

In New York City, Dr Travis spoke at the grand opening of the Center for Leadership Performance, describing how the brain is involved in decision-making, how stress disrupts this process, and how the Transcendental Meditation Technique maximizes it.
