Through Consciousness-Based Education, high school becomes one of Israel's best - 'almost overnight'

After implementing Consciousness-Based Education, a high school in Israel became one of the best in Israel almost overnight.

The school was 'in danger of closing due to high levels of violence and low academic achievement', a new video about the school reports. 'Almost overnight this school became one of the best schools in Israel,' receiving National Education Awards in two consecutive years—in 2008 and 2009—the video states.

The school has been one of the leading schools in the whole country, a school administrator says.

Several years ago there was a decline in both learning and discipline which caused academic achievement to fall. It was difficult to teach in the school, he explains.

'This situation forced us—all of the school system—to find ways to change this condition. It was then that we were introduced to meditation.'

Many students, teachers, and administrators comment on the transformation that has taken place in the school since the Transcendental Meditation Programme was introduced.*

Based on his experience at school, one student says: 'I think that if the entire world would meditate, then there would be more peace, less violence, better relationships between people, more friends—a beautiful world, just like that.'
