The article features a segment that aired on the PBS television show To the Contrary in the United States. The show looked at how the Transcendental Meditation Technique is helping children successfully handle Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) without medication.

To the Contrary visited Kingsbury Day School in Washington, DC—a school for children with language based disabilities and ADHD, where students practise Transcendental Meditation for ten minutes twice a day. Children say the meditation technique makes them feel relaxed and less angry.

Researchers are finding that the deep rest and enlivenment of brain function produced during the technique may actually decrease disabling aspects of ADHD—helping students focus better, while reducing anxiety and depression—without the harmful side effects of medication.
