School's Maharishi Vastu architectural design to foster creativity and innovation

Architectural design in schools can have a profound effect on the learning experience.

For a school specifically intended to foster development of creativity and innovation, the building itself should be innovative, said a leading Maharishi Vastu architect, who has helped to create plans for such a school.

'We know that one of the problems of education today is that students are not motivated to come to school and to study. They feel tired and not inspired. Here we have a unique design, and a unique approach to the design, where the school itself, the building itself is attractive and pleasant and inviting for students to come and learn,' he said.

The design offers several innovative features such as light, spacious areas filled with plants and water elements where students can gather to have snacks and socialize.

An uplifting atmosphere is created through an abundance of natural light, space, appropriate colours, and comfortable chairs in the classrooms.

Research indicates that working and living in small rooms with low ceilings is limiting to creativity, while light and large spaces increases creativity and success, the architect said.
