US: Maharishi University of Management MBA team wins national competition

A team from the accounting MBA class at Maharishi University of Management (MUM), Fairfield, Iowa, USA, recently placed first in a nationwide business simulation competition, which tested integrated decision-making skills.

This year the MUM team consisted of four international students from Nepal, Pakistan, India, and China. They competed against 136 other MBA teams from top universities across the USA, including Harvard, Cornell, UC-Berkeley, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Iowa, and Iowa State. Even though the MUM team had only three weeks compared with a whole semester for other teams, it was able to come out on top.

Dr Bevan Morris, President of Maharishi University of Management, attributed the students' success in part to their daily practice of the Transcendental Meditation Programme and Yogic Flying, integrated in the Consciousness-Based Education curriculum of the MBA programme. Practice of these techniques has been shown to enliven self-sufficiency, creativity, alertness, learning ability, and happiness; 'Winning competitions is a side-effect of this total development,' said Dr Morris.
