Guatemala: Youth in schools, probation centres thrive with Transcendental Meditation, promote peace in their nation

In the last six months, many young people in orphanages, probation centres, and schools in Guatemala have been learning the Transcendental Meditation Programme.

For 25 years Transcendental Meditation and other programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi were not available in Guatemala. In the last few years, teachers from other countries have been offering the technique in Guatemala, bringing its scientifically validated benefits—including reduced stress, improved academic achievement, better health, and integrated brain functioning—to the population.

Through their efforts to re-introduce Maharishi's programmes in Guatemala, the teachers have also been aiming to create an invincible influence of coherence, harmony, and peace for the whole nation, which has been plagued by high levels of violence. Practice of Maharishi's technologies of consciousness in large enough groups has been documented through more than 50 scientific studies to reduce crime and violence and promote positive trends in society.

Hundreds of young people have learned Transcendental Meditation and are already meditating together twice a day in their various organizations and institutes. Officials in these institutions have expressed great satisfaction with the results of the programme in reducing problems and promoting peace and happiness in students, said one of the meditation teachers.

Some students will soon also learn the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, and their group practice will promote a powerful influence of harmony and positivity throughout the nation. According to the scientific formula, 400 advanced practitioners are required to create national invincibility for Guatemala.

Among those learning Transcendental Meditation are many students and their families in the large indigenous Maya population in the country—one of the world's oldest and wisest traditions, teachers commented—which will also serve to enliven cultural integrity and contribute to national invincibility.
