Spain: Conference inspires young Europeans to bring Transcendental Meditation to college students

During a recent one-week conference in Barcelona, Spain, young people from all over Europe who practise the Transcendental Meditation Programme were inspired to bring Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes to benefit the individual and society to college students in their home countries.


One purpose of the course was to give participants an opportunity to deepen their experiences in meditation, as well as to learn more about the wide range of knowledge and programmes developed by Maharishi. Many were graduates of Consciousness-Based Education schools.

Experts in Maharishi's technologies of consciousness addressed the conference, including David Lynch, founder of the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace, and Dr Bevan Morris, President of Maharishi University of Management.

Also speaking was world-renowned quantum physicist Dr John Hagelin, Director of the Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy, and President of the Global Union of Scientists for Peace. An administrator of the Transcendental Meditation Programme for Latin America also addressed the group.

The participants are planning campaigns in their countries to bring Transcendental Meditation to college students, with the help of a new documentary made by David Lynch of his 16-nation tour for Consciousness-Based Education in 2007. Many are also intending to enrol in training courses to become teachers of the Transcendental Meditation Programme.

The presenters found it fulfilling to address members of the rising young generation who are interested in taking responsibility for offering Transcendental Meditation and related programmes in their countries. More conferences for young people will be held in the future.
