David Lynch Foundation visits school in Uganda

An AIDS-prevention organization in Uganda has recently had great success by utilizing the Transcendental Meditation Programme to assist its members and the children in its care.

According to its page on Facebook^®, the Economic Development and AIDS Prevention Organization (EDAPO) operates in Kampala, Uganda and provides, food, shelter, education, and basic medical care to over 600 children orphaned by the HIV/AIDS epidemic and warfare.

This past year, 80 of the older children at EDAPO were able to learn the Transcendental Meditation Technique, with the support of a grant from the David Lynch Foundation.

The results have been wonderful.

A teacher of the technique who is involved in the project said, 'Many of the children had recurrent headaches and other such symptoms and they've been relieved.'

To capture the project's success, a videographer from David Lynch Foundation TV (DLF.TV) came to Uganda to take photos and videos of the projects.

The photographs include beautiful, stunning images of children and teachers meditating, getting lunch, and going about their daily school activities. The students all wear brightly patterned uniforms and seem to go through their day with joy. One photo includes a joyous picture of the group enthusiastically waving to the cameraman and smiling broadly.

The school's neighbours remark on the focus and happiness they observe in the students. They say that the students are so quiet the neighbours sometimes forget they're living next door to a school, which is unusual at that primary school level.

The teacher remarked, 'More children will be joining the school in the months to come and they'll be learning Transcendental Meditation and enjoying the benefits.'

EDAPO has also received generous support from Seeds of Heaven which has enabled over 120 of the members, staff, and parents of EDAPO to learn Transcendental Meditation; as well as through Global Giving for the children's day to day needs.

EDAPO's goals include building permanent classrooms and establishing the primary and secondary Consciousness-Based Education schools it desires.
