'It was thrilling; you didn't want it to stop.'

This is how Dr Bevan Morris described the singing performance of a group of students at Maharishi Secondary School for Girls in Uganda.

Dr Morris, President of Maharishi University of Management, visited the school, in the city of Mbale, while on his 14-country tour of the African continent. The tour is part of the African Golden Jubilee celebrations, honouring the 50 years of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes for enlightenment and invincibility being available on the continent.

At the Maharishi School, the students sang to welcome Dr Morris and other visitors. They sang many different songs, and Dr Morris remarked how impressed he was with the quality of the performance and the level of bliss evident in their songs.

These girls are very popular for their singing in the area, Dr Morris reported.

At the International Women's Day celebration, the organizers listed the Maharishi Secondary School for Girls singers on the printed programme before checking with Grant Lusimbo, the director of the school.

The organizers 'were so determined to have [the girls] that they just put them on the programme as the first item,' Dr Morris added. 'They're very popular as singers because they're really charged with bliss, and they really make you feel very happy to hear them singing.'

After visiting the school, Dr Morris praised its achievements and the quality of the students, who are thriving on their Consciousness-Based Education programme. He also expressed the hope that the physical condition of the school will soon improve, with finished buildings, Internet access, and a smooth and level playground.

'I promised them while I was speaking to them that they could have some connection to the girls at Maharishi School in the United States and they all were so pleased by that idea.'

The students said they would love to use the Internet to talk to other students at Maharishi Schools around the world.

Dr Morris concluded, 'You feel when looking at these girls that they can do anything. . . . They're going to be great leaders, very enlightened leaders of the human race.'
