One of the major focuses of Dr Bevan Morris's recent tour of the African continent has consistently been on education. This is an area of society which has always been very important to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's initiatives to create an ideal quality of life for the people of every country—an area for which he developed specialized programmes such as Consciousness-Based Education.

During his stop in Ethiopia, Dr Morris, who is President of Maharishi University of Management, focused on spreading the knowledge of Consciousness-Based Education.

In the capital of the country, Addis Ababa, Dr Morris met with the international department at the University of Addis Ababa, presenting the many benefits of Consciousness-Based Education and the Transcendental Meditation Technique that have been found in institutions around the world.

He described extensive scientific research showing reduced student and teacher stress, development of integrated brain functioning, and higher academic achievements. Among other topics discussed were opportunities for collaboration with Maharishi University of Management, including faculty and student exchanges and offering MUM programmes via distance education.

Dr Morris also visited land on the outskirts of Addis Ababa, and discussed possibilities for students to enjoy Consciousness-Based Education with longtime Transcendental Meditation teacher Kibre Dawit.

Recently describing his tour of the country, Dr Morris noted that in addition to supporting education, there was another way to encourage peace and prosperous development.

'We encouraged more people to become teachers of Transcendental Meditation. That seems to be the key everywhere, more and more teachers.'

Lastly, while reflecting on his tour of Africa as a whole, Dr Morris spoke for himself and the teachers of Transcendental Meditation that he sometimes traveled with:

'We have fallen in love with Africa. We want everything good for every nation in Africa. We visited 14 countries, but there are 53 countries. Maharishi wanted every African nation to be invincible and prosperous and to have balance in nature. [He wanted] freedom from all conflict and war, and a beautiful future for the whole African continent.'
