At a middle school in Sicily, 120 students have learned the Transcendental Meditation Technique and practise it regularly as part of their daily academic routine.

Dr Bevan Morris, President of Maharishi University of Management, visited the school where many students have begun Transcendental Meditation due to the enthusiasm and dedication of one of the middle school's teachers, herself an instructor of the technique.

Dr Morris traveled to Italy at the completion of his 14-country tour of the African continent, which created a great enlivenment of interest in Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's knowledge and technologies of consciousness. He continued in Italy, with special focus on Consciousness-Based Education.

The students of the middle school so value their daily meditations that many of them approached Dr Morris to share their appreciation and to pass along their wish that all the students in the school could learn Transcendental Meditation as well.

One young boy approached Dr Morris and said, 'We're so glad you came,' indicating that the visit was bringing great support for the continuation of the project. The boy made it clear that his twice-daily meditations were very important to him. 'He was very passionate about that,' Dr Morris added.

This enthusiasm led Dr Morris and the other visitors in the delegation to promise to organize for everyone to learn Transcendental Meditation. Since that day, the resolution to implement the plan has become even stronger.

On the day of the visit, after a group meditation, there was a sumptuous meal for which many of the students' parents brought in delicious homemade food.

Dr Morris found the school inspiring and remarked that these students' experiences needn't be unusual.

'It's truly the case that this can be in any one of the schools in Italy, and that's what we've been encouraging. Every other school should also have this chance. The children are gaining so much.'

In anticipation of Dr Morris's visit, the students decorated the school with colourful posters expressing the joy and enthusiasm they feel about Transcendental Meditation. The posters, many of which were decorated with rainbows, flowers, and beautiful cutouts, exclaimed, 'We'll Meditate Forever!', 'Meditation is Paradise', and 'Let's Meditate!'

Dr Morris concluded, 'You could just feel their passionate appreciation of this gift to them. It's really very touching.'
