A new video produced by Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment in Fairfield, Iowa, USA, showcases the unique characteristics of the school. The video focuses on four areas the school excels in: providing an environment of success without stress, award-winning extracurriculars, a diverse student body from around the world, and a nurturing, safe community.

The video explains that for nearly 40 years Maharishi School has provided a prekindergarten to grade 12 education unlike any other, an education that teaches the whole child.

'What is it that constitutes success at school?' asks Dr Richard Beall, Head of Maharishi School. 'Is it taking a boatload of AP courses and getting accepted into a selective school? At what price? And can that be achieved while still promoting the health and wholeness of the student?'

The answer is teaching the Transcendental Meditation technique and encouraging students to connect their disciplines of study back to themselves. Mathematics teacher Karen Price says, 'Consciousness-Based Education is the best of both worlds. It is developing the inner life of the student as well as the outer intellectual life.'

Developing the inner life includes activities like twice-daily practice of Transcendental Meditation, yoga asanas (postures), studying the Science of Creative Intelligence, learning about Maharishi Ayurveda natural health care, and taking classes in the ancient Sanskrit language.

The focus on developing the outer life involves rigorous academics, project-based learning, and award-winning extracurriculars.

Those extracurricular programmes cover a wide range of subjects, including science, poetry, athletics, and drama.
