Sustainability is the new focus of the PhD in Management this fall at Maharishi University of Management.
It's a natural progression from the successful MBA in Sustainable Business that the management department has been offering, said Maxwell Rainforth, associate director of the PhD in Sustainable Management.
The PhD has three components: 1) developing holistic consciousness in the manager, 2) managing the transformation of organizations toward sustainable practices, and 3) the measurement and communication of sustainability outcomes.
The home page for the Ph.D. program explains further that in the Ph.D. program, ''sustainable management is studied in the light of the Science and Technology of Consciousness. This program in Consciousness-Based Management for Sustainability provides understanding and experience of the total intelligence of Nature, which automatically manages the infinitely complex and evolving universe without strain and without mistakes. Students in this program practice technologies for personal growth toward better health, clearer thinking, greater creativity, moral development, and wisdom.''
