A delegation of professors from Maharishi University of Management in Iowa, USA, was invited to address a three-day seminar at the largest university in Mongolia.

The seminar at Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST) focused on Consciousness-Based education, leadership, and sustainable development.

The first president of democratic Mongolia, Dr Professor Ochirbat, was very interested in the latter topic.

Professor Ochirbat, currently director of the Center for Ecology and Sustainable Development at MUST, is known and respected throughout Mongolia for the two terms he served as president.

'He is a great leader of the nation. He is highly respected for bringing people together and for ensuring that all sides of all discussions are heard,' said Dr Tom Stanley, vice-chair of the MUM Board of Trustees and director of Consciousness-Based programmes in Mongolia. Professor Ochirbat 'has represented all of Mongolia from different perspectives as president'.

Professor Ochirbat invited delegation member Professor Lonnie Gamble, founding faculty and curriculum director of the MUM Sustainable Living department, 'to document Mongolia's progress in implementing sustainable technologies and in other preservation projects around Mongolia', Dr Stanley said.

The former president also invited Professor Gamble to help develop a UN World Heritage site in the Gobi Desert, and to help create a building similar to the recently completed Sustainable Living Center at MUM.

Describing the MUM delegation's time in Mongolia, Dr Stanley commented that 'it was an extremely successful several days'.
