On 15 August 2013 ABC.net.au reported: A new project set up by an Australian volunteer aims to provide books to children and adults alike in Laos. The Laos Literacy Project is the brainchild of Karlee Taylor, an eco-tourism graduate who was working as volunteer in the National Protected Area of Nakai-Nam Theun, when she noticed that many of the village children did not have access to books. Karlee's immediate response was to start a small fund-raising campaign which enabled her to distribute hundreds of books to local schools and the project continues to grow.
